About Us

Boardman Hill Farm, located in West Rutland, Vermont, was founded in 1982 by Greg Cox and is now run by Greg and his son, Avery. We manage about 10 acres of cultivable land, with roughly 5 acres actively producing vegetables and the rest planted in cover crops to support long-term soil health.

Having always followed organic practices, we focus on growing nutrient-dense, affordable produce in a way that respects both the land and the people we feed. We don’t use synthetic fertilizers or GMOs, and we rely on practices like composting, crop rotation, and cover cropping to build healthy, resilient soil.

Greg Cox has also played a leading role in strengthening the local food system, helping to expand the Rutland outdoor farmers market and co-founding the Vermont Farmers Food Center, which led to the creation of a successful indoor winter market. His efforts have helped make fresh, local food more accessible to the community year-round.

That same commitment to food access is reflected in our work at Boardman Hill Farm. We regularly donate to local food pantries like BROC, Castleton Cares, and Slate Valley Cares, and for over 20 years, we’ve been supplying fresh vegetables to senior centers throughout the area.

We believe everyone deserves access to good food—and we’re proud to grow it for our community.
